Job Description

Chamberlain University is seeking a Part-time Clinical Nursing Faculty to teach students in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at our Indianapolis campus.

This is an on-site position, where you will mentor students in person at an inpatient clinical setting, focusing on family-centered care of children. The course explores issues of normal childcare as well as health alterations of children from infancy through adolescence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
  • Assuming responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
  • Planning clinical experiences for and providing direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual or group of individuals.
  • Making self-available to staff at the agencies.
  • Evaluating and providing documented feedback to students on level of performance based on course objectives.
  • Being available for remediation of students as required or needed.
  • Orienting and maintaining current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the agency/clinical personnel.
  • Developing and posting written clinical assignments consistent with student's knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.
  • Correcting and returning homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College.
  • May teach didactic course content under supervision of course coordinator.
  • Keeping course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
  • Working with college administration, staff, and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college and student satisfaction rates.
  • Participating in the implementation of the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and both departmental and campus policies.
  • Serving as a professional role model for other faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and general professionalism.
  • Utilizing relationship skills in situations requiring group problem solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation.
  • Complying with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
  • Reporting to the dean or assistant dean: a course coordinator will also provide direct oversight.
  • Handling related duties as assigned.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Complying with all policies and standards.

Qualifications include:

  • A Master's in Nursing (MSN), or doctoral degree (DNP/PhD) in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered Indiana nursing license.
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.

Chamberlain University offers a competitive compensation rate for this position, with expected rates between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate's education and experience.
