Pediatric Education Vice Chair

Indiana University School of Medicine is initiating the search for a Vice Chair for Pediatric Education within the Department of Pediatrics. This role presents a remarkable opportunity for a strategic leader dedicated to enhancing teaching excellence and educational innovation within the Department of Pediatrics.
The Vice Chair for Pediatric Education will focus on the academic mission of education and teaching, providing leadership and direction for educational programs while promoting and mentoring faculty with an emphasis on education.
As the largest medical school in the United States, IU School of Medicine boasts over 20,000 alumni and more than 3,000 learners. The faculty is diverse, comprising 3,275 full-time members and 3,579 volunteer faculty responsible for training medical, graduate, and postgraduate students. IU School of Medicine (IUSM) is Indiana's sole allopathic medical school.
The Department of Pediatrics at IUSM/Riley Hospital for Children features a faculty of over 400 members and consistently ranks among the top 10 pediatric departments in NIH-funded research nationally (ranked ninth for 2023). The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories in a dedicated pediatric research facility, a comprehensive clinical research center, and a well-functioning biobank, all of which support the Department's research initiatives. Collaborative opportunities are available through our nationally recognized Division of Children's Health Services Research and the Indiana Clinical Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI). The Department also maintains strong research partnerships with the Regenstrief Institute in Health Informatics, Purdue Biomedical Engineering, and Cook Biomedical in pediatric biodevices, as well as the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute focused on orphan drug therapeutics.
Riley Hospital stands as Indiana's only comprehensive children's hospital, featuring over 450 beds and handling 360,000 inpatient and outpatient visits across various regional sites. The hospital has consistently achieved top rankings in multiple programs according to national reports, with a significant percentage of Indiana children diagnosed with cancer receiving treatment at Riley Hospital for Children. It is also home to a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Pediatric Burn Unit, Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation Program, and Pediatric Dialysis Program.
A newly completed Maternity Tower within Riley Hospital provides a unique opportunity for integrated care for mothers and infants, fostering collaborative educational opportunities between maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric subspecialties.
Qualifications: Candidates must exhibit a strong interest and commitment to education, demonstrating exceptional communication skills. A willingness to operate at a high managerial level within a complex healthcare organization is essential. An Indiana Medical License or the ability to obtain one is required.
