Key Responsibilities:
- Execute welding tasks on diverse materials utilizing a variety of welding techniques
- Fabricate structural components using GMAW and SMAW methods during submarine assembly
- Engage in ongoing training for both traditional and advanced welding techniques, ensuring qualification for each method
- Operate pneumatic tools such as grinders and wire brushes
- Perform oxy/fuel pre-heating and carbon/arc gouging, as well as verify weld dimensions with gauges
- Interpret welding symbols, technique documentation, and work instructions
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned
Location:
This role is based at a facility dedicated to advanced maritime construction.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience or training in welding
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Capability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under extreme temperature conditions
- Possession of basic hand tools is required
Desirable:
- Completion of vocational or technical training programs
- Background in construction or manufacturing sectors
- Basic math skills
- Military or naval experience
- Proficiency in interpreting welding and shipyard protocols, structural blueprints, technical manuals, and testing documents
Skills Required:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team to achieve organizational objectives
- Physical capabilities including climbing, color vision, crawling, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, and twisting
Work Environment:
- Exposure to cold, dry, dusty, and hot conditions
- Work may involve noise and oily environments.
