Vocational Nursing Specialist

As a Vocational Nursing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering nursing care, training, and support to meet the medical or psychiatric needs of individuals with brain injuries, intellectual and developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, or emotional and behavioral challenges.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the health status of individuals and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Administering medications, maintaining accurate documentation, and supervising staff members involved in medication administration.
  • Providing medical treatments as prescribed by physicians and offering personal care services.
  • Conducting assessments and implementing healthcare services tailored to each Individual Service Plan (ISP), while responding promptly to any changes in condition.
  • Training staff on essential topics such as universal precautions, infection control, and medication administration.
  • Acting as a liaison and advocate with other healthcare and professional service providers.
  • Delivering educational training to individuals on topics including self-medication, prescribed treatments, sex education/STD prevention, and smoking cessation.

Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or a related field, or graduation from an accredited LPN program.
- Preferred: One year of experience in a nursing role with the target population.
- Current state LPN or LVN License.
- Valid driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance.
- Additional certifications as mandated by state regulations, such as CPR/FA, HIV/AIDS certification, BBP, and ACT training.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with staff, individuals served, and their families.
