Your Role and Responsibilities

The Engineer plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality designs and project outcomes that enhance client satisfaction while adhering to KLJ's engineering standards. This position may involve serving as a technical lead or project manager on various assignments, focusing particularly on water treatment engineering design.

  • Apply engineering principles to oversee and execute engineering tasks.
  • Lead the design and development of project components.
  • Create construction and bidding documents in line with organizational and client protocols.
  • Manage construction administration and provide on-site oversight.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews to meet KLJ's quality benchmarks.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients.
  • Guide, instruct, and mentor team members.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.

Key Competencies

  • Proven expertise in water treatment engineering, including:
    • Master planning
    • Hydraulic calculations
    • Design of water treatment and storage systems
    • Permitting and coordination with regulatory agencies
  • Ability to independently or collaboratively complete project tasks.
  • Plan, organize, and manage project elements, including client interactions.
  • Prepare and review reports and documentation.
  • Assist in organizing public or client meetings with senior staff support.
  • Help develop project scopes, fees, and schedules.
  • Engage in marketing efforts to secure new clients.
  • May serve as Engineer of Record for project deliverables.
  • Potentially act as project/task manager or technical lead for medium-scale projects with senior staff support.
  • Contribute to proposal and interview preparation with senior staff assistance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer licensure.
  • Experience in engineering consultancy.
  • Background in water treatment and hydraulic engineering.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Post-Doctoral degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of hydrologic engineering.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Regularly sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and crawling.
  • Using hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms.
  • Communicating clearly through speech and hearing.

Employees must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
