Job Title: Principal/Sr. Principal Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal/Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex electronic warfare systems, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver innovative solutions.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software design and development, with experience in Java programming, web services development, and formal software life cycle development methodologies. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining software systems, working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of projects, and collaborating with stakeholders to identify and prioritize requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop complex software systems for electronic warfare applications
  • Develop and maintain software systems using Java, Linux, XML, XSD, and DDS
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Work with stakeholders to identify and prioritize requirements
  • Develop and maintain software documentation and technical reports
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant software design and development experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM-related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of relevant software design and development experience, or a PhD in a STEM-related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of relevant software design and development experience, or in lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of experience is required
  • Java programming experience
  • Working knowledge of web services development utilizing LINUX, Java, XML, XSD, and DDS
  • Must have experience with formal software life cycle development methodologies, requirements through test
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have interim secret clearance prior to starting. Once started, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • U.S. Secret or higher clearance
  • Experience with the Agile development methodology
  • Experience with Atlassian tool set (Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with GitLab tool
  • Experience with open architecture standards and concepts
  • Experience with Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Warfare Support (ES), and Direction Finding
  • Experience troubleshooting at the system level (hardware and software)
  • Communication equipment experience
  • Radar equipment experience
  • Experience with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
