Sandblaster - AIRCO

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Sandblaster to join our team at Airco Service. As a Sandblaster, you will be responsible for operating sandblasting equipment to prepare surfaces for application of protective coatings and paints.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Abrade surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment.
• Shovel or pour abrasives, for example sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hoppers.
• Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action.
• Turn valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle.
• Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts.

Requirements:

• Some college/vocational or technical training, OSHA 10 or 30, High school diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
• Any Industrial Painting Certificate.

Work Environment:

• Fabrication, Assembly, New Construction, Existing Construction.

Essential Skills:

• Must know how to select appropriate abrasives.
• Operate equipment to prepare substrates for application of protective coatings.
• Operate equipment to perform surface preparation.
