Overview
The Child Care Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the educational and developmental activities of children, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment conducive to their growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with the regulations set forth by the State of California, Department of Social Services, and Title 22.
- Implements best practices in child care settings.
- Facilitates open communication with supervisors and colleagues.
- Creates a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for children.
- Assists educators in monitoring children’s safety and well-being.
- Collaborates with teachers to design an engaging and safe classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of children.
- Maintains, cleans, and organizes educational materials and equipment.
- Teaches children about personal hygiene and self-care routines.
- Provides assistance during snack and meal times as necessary.
- Keeps the facility clean, safe, and welcoming by maintaining all areas, including floors, walls, and furnishings.
- Supervises and supports children during toileting activities as appropriate.
- Engages in professional development through ongoing education and workshops.
- Exemplifies organizational values in daily performance and interactions.
- Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not involve supervisory duties.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; one to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
Preferred qualifications include completion of 3 units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or participation in an accredited occupational program. Education and experience must align with the standards set by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the Child Development Permit Matrix. It is the responsibility of the employee to maintain and provide proof of educational qualifications to the Human Resources Department and the facility director in a timely manner.
