The Industrial Process Engineer will oversee the management, design, execution, and coordination of manufacturing and industrial engineering initiatives, policies, and methodologies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, minimizing waste and delays, and fostering cost-effective practices across the organization. This role also involves supporting the initiation and rollout of new products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizing and directing daily production engineering activities to ensure the delivery of superior quality products.
- Formulating process enhancements to optimize the use of equipment and materials for increased production efficiency.
- Creating operational strategies to meet production and financial targets.
- Identifying and implementing changes to enhance product quality or reduce expenses by leveraging knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly techniques, quality control standards, and material specifications.
- Investigating and resolving operational challenges such as material variances and production bottlenecks.
- Estimating costs, production timelines, and staffing needs for both existing and new designs.
- Utilizing time studies or standard data to improve operational performance across various machines and assembly processes.
- Determining root causes of failures through statistical analysis and recommending design, tolerance, or process modifications.
- Providing technical support and expertise related to manufacturing processes.
- Integrating innovative methods and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Reviewing product designs for manufacturability and thoroughness.
- Monitoring production activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Training production staff on new or existing methodologies.
- Designing, installing, or troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
- Preparing documentation for new manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other relevant information to streamline production processes.
- Assessing staff performance and strategizing to enhance productivity.
- Evaluating manufactured products against specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Designing equipment layouts and workspaces to achieve optimal efficiency.
- Creating testing methodologies and evaluating finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate requirements.
- Analyzing statistical data and product specifications to set quality and reliability objectives for finished goods.
- Developing manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to enhance staff and facility efficiency.
- Recommending strategies for improving the utilization of personnel, materials, and utilities.
- Planning and establishing operational sequences for fabricating and assembling components or products to promote effective utilization.
- Coordinating quality control objectives and activities to address production issues, enhance product reliability, and minimize costs.
- Collaborating with vendors, staff, and management regarding procurement, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project updates.
- Estimating production costs and the impact of product design changes for management review and decision-making.

Position Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 3-5 years of engineering management experience in an automotive manufacturing setting.
Required Skills:
- Understanding of the practical application of engineering principles and technology, including the design and production of various goods.
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing and distribution.
- Proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel and Word.
- Comprehensive understanding of APQP processes, flowcharts, work instructions, and control plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in process development, corrective actions, and problem-solving.
- Commitment to continuous improvement principles.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and function effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
- Compliance with all relevant certification standards and policies.
- Understanding of ERP Maintenance Systems.
- Familiarity with networking and database protocols.
- PFMEA and welding experience preferred.
- Understanding of pilot processes, PMEA, control plans, and daily equipment checklists preferred.
