Reporting To: Director of Special Education and Site Principal
Core Responsibilities:
- Identify students with potential speech and language challenges through organized assessment programs.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of speech and language capabilities.
- Design tailored intervention plans for students identified with communication impairments.
- Execute the clinical intervention strategies effectively.
- Adhere to State Standards, District Policies, and ASHA Guidelines throughout the referral and evaluation processes.
- Collaborate with the Individualized Education Plan Committee to recommend and plan appropriate services.
- Utilize diagnostic information to inform intervention strategies and maintain ongoing assessments to track student progress.
- Manage communication with faculty regarding the role and contributions of the Speech and Language Pathologist.
- Implement instructional strategies that align with the individual needs of students.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and intervention methods.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Complete necessary billing for services rendered in a timely manner.
- Participate in state assessments as required.
- Engage in other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or Speech and Language Pathology.
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency.
- Valid California State license for Speech-Language Pathology.
- Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks such as sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, as well as maintaining adequate vision and hearing for monitoring student interactions.
Work Environment: The Speech and Language Pathologist will work in various settings, ensuring a conducive atmosphere for individual and group sessions. Flexibility and adaptability are essential in managing diverse learning environments.
