Position Overview

Role: Speech and Language Pathologist

Reporting To: Director of Special Education and Site Principal

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Identify students with potential speech and language challenges through organized assessment programs.
  2. Conduct thorough evaluations of speech and language capabilities.
  3. Design tailored intervention plans for students identified with communication impairments.
  4. Execute the clinical intervention strategies effectively.
  5. Adhere to State Standards, District Policies, and ASHA Guidelines throughout the referral and evaluation processes.
  6. Collaborate with the Individualized Education Plan Committee to recommend and plan appropriate services.
  7. Utilize diagnostic information to inform intervention strategies and maintain ongoing assessments to track student progress.
  8. Manage communication with faculty regarding the role and contributions of the Speech and Language Pathologist.
  9. Implement instructional strategies that align with the individual needs of students.
  10. Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and intervention methods.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Complete necessary billing for services rendered in a timely manner.
  2. Participate in state assessments as required.
  3. Engage in other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or Speech and Language Pathology.
  2. Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency.
  3. Valid California State license for Speech-Language Pathology.
  4. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks such as sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, as well as maintaining adequate vision and hearing for monitoring student interactions.

Work Environment: The Speech and Language Pathologist will work in various settings, ensuring a conducive atmosphere for individual and group sessions. Flexibility and adaptability are essential in managing diverse learning environments.
