Speech Language Pathology Per Diem Position

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a per diem / prn Speech Language Pathologist to join our inpatient acute care team at our Greater Heights Hospital. This is a supplemental position with minimum shift expectations of 2 weekend day shifts (Saturdays and/or Sundays) per month.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients with communication and oral-pharyngeal disorders of functional or neurological origin to facilitate the development and maintenance of human communication and swallowing ability.
  • Document findings, progress and provide instruction to patients and caregivers.
  • Provide recommendations and assist speech therapists and management team with program development.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to staff, hospital, schools and the community in general.
  • Act as a clinical instructor to CFY and speech interns.
  • Assist in program development within the department.
  • Actively participate in organized community service/functions as a representative of the profession.
  • Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited university-based program.
  • Current licensure to practice speech/language pathology by the State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology for Texas.
  • Current certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to mentor/train staff or supervise clinical interns.
  • Ability to commit to elected commitment schedule, with flexibility in scheduling and in moving within patient care areas when necessary.
