Job Summary

As an Interventional Radiology Technologist at Atrium Health Cabarrus, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various invasive angio and interventional procedures performed in the Interventional Radiology Suite. Your responsibilities will include organizing surgical scrub and circulation duties for total patient care during and after the procedure, monitoring patients in the Interventional Radiology area, and providing necessary report information to the holding area or nursing unit as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician.
  • Explain the procedure to the patient and prepare them for the procedure.
  • Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
  • Circulate during the procedure and maintain responsibility for patient comfort.
  • Provide supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
  • Remove catheters/sheaths and apply direct pressure or clamp as appropriate.
  • Record and process hemodynamic reports, contrast media records, and charges promptly and accurately.
  • Enter patient data and inventory into the WITT program and send films for review.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions to leadership or department engineer for repairs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a High School Diploma or GED, completion of an ANA accredited Radiologic Technologist Program or completion of an accredited Radiology Interventional Program, BLS HCP certification from AHA, and RTR. One year of experience in diagnostic and one year in Interventional Radiology are preferred.

This role requires standing and walking while wearing 10 to 15 pound lead radiation protection aprons, exposure to radiation, secretions, and blood, and confined working area. Normal vision, manual dexterity, and good eye and hand coordination are necessary to operate equipment. Constant concentration is required during procedures.
