As a Senior Applications Engineer 3 (NPD), your responsibilities will encompass the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental health and safety principles, policies, and procedures.
- Plan, design, and coordinate the integration of machinery and equipment into the manufacturing processes of our industrial establishment, utilizing engineering knowledge and programming skills.
- Develop CNC machine operating programs using computer-aided CAM software or modify existing programs, leveraging programming language expertise.
- Create work holding solutions to manufacture components according to print specifications using SolidWorks CAD software.
- Utilize SolidWorks, MasterCAM, Esprit, or similar software tools.
- Engage in part print design reviews and provide suggestions to enhance manufacturability.
- Identify the parts, equipment, tools, and processes necessary to meet manufacturing objectives in line with product specifications.
- Program CNC machines, set up equipment, troubleshoot issues, and complete machine run-offs as required.
- Conduct manufacturing capability studies of machined components to ensure consistent production quality.
- Operate manual tool room equipment alongside CNC mills, lathes, and grinders.
- Research equipment requirements for in-house component manufacturing and provide feedback regarding potential purchases.
- Assist in the design and development of equipment and systems; re-engineer existing systems to meet production targets.
- Oversee installation processes to ensure machines and equipment are set up and functioning according to specifications.
- Mentor, train, and educate engineers and machinists in metal removal, fixture design, work holding, and programming.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborate with multiple machinists by supplying necessary programs concurrently.
- Contribute to the company's ongoing efforts to improve Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.
- Uphold the company's standards of integrity, safety, fair treatment, and a positive work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with 4-7 years of relevant experience (including CNC machining/programming experience); or a combination of related experience, education, and training sufficient to perform the essential functions of the role.
- May conduct user training sessions.
- May supervise and guide junior engineers.
- Contribute to moderately complex project aspects.
- Work independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work proactively with others.
- Willingness to engage in continuing education as required by management.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint reading.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure.
- Attention to detail and excellent record-keeping abilities.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to put in extra effort as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all company officials, employees, vendors, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to align with our core values.
- Employees may be assigned to other departments, functional groups, and/or shifts as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, and bending throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to machinery, noise, chemicals, and lights/lasers.
- Must wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by the position and/or company policy.
