The Product Security Engineer will oversee comprehensive security evaluations with an emphasis on Android and iOS application safety. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both manual and automated security assessments and verify requirements such as MASVS/CWEs for mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms.
  • Perform thorough security evaluations and penetration tests, which include mobile application binary analysis, source code examination, IPC, and SDK assessments.
  • Analyze application sandbox environments for privilege-related concerns on both iOS and Android systems.
  • Engage in mobile application development processes, ensuring security requirements are effectively developed and validated.
  • Detect hardcoded secrets, insecure data storage, unsafe communication practices, improper permissions, sensitive information disclosures, and inadequate validation of data entering platform features.
  • Identify outdated or weak algorithms utilized in both third-party and internal libraries.
  • Generate detailed reports and recommendations for remediation, assisting in enhancing the security posture of mobile applications.
  • Familiarize with the Mobile Security Testing Guide, applying its framework to test both iOS and Android applications.
  • Contribute to various security initiatives, technical design evaluations, code reviews, and testing specifications.
  • Spot deprecated mobile components and methods, including vulnerable programmatic deep link handlers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in conducting security assessments at the OS or application level for iOS and Android applications.
  • Strong grasp of security testing frameworks applicable to mobile applications (e.g., OWASP, SANS).
  • Advanced skills in secure coding practices across various programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Objective C, Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin, and Python.
  • A proactive, technically adept individual who enjoys learning, problem-solving, and contributing to team advancement.
  • Understanding of Inter-Process Communication (IPC) on mobile platforms.
  • Proficient in scripting languages including Bash and Python.
  • Solid knowledge of APIs and authentication protocols like OAuth and SAML.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), cloud security, and reverse engineering for iOS and Android.
  • Hands-on experience with security testing tools such as Burp Suite, Frida, disassemblers, debuggers, dynamic instrumentation, and static code analysis.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with mobile application CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to generate test reports and provide actionable recommendations for mitigation and re-validation efforts.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong foundation in security engineering and various authentication and security protocols.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mobile operating system security internals.
  • Hands-on experience with security testing tools, standards, and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of mobile security, obfuscation techniques, and reverse engineering methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of X.509, SSL/TLS certificates, and general certificate management processes.
