Position Overview
Become an integral part of our healthcare team as a Critical Care Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In this role, you will be essential in delivering advanced care to patients facing severe, life-threatening conditions. Your proficiency in acute care nursing will be vital in providing compassionate and high-quality treatment in our ICU. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations to determine care requirements in the ICU.
- Administer prescribed medications and observe their effects on patients.
- Execute advanced medical procedures as needed, including intubation, central line placement, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Track patient progress and respond promptly to any changes in condition, addressing complications as they arise.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to formulate and modify personalized care plans.
- Operate and oversee life support systems and other medical apparatus.
- Maintain precise and current patient records, documenting all care provided and significant observations.
- Educate patients and their families regarding the patient's condition, treatment strategies, and recovery processes.
- Ensure strict compliance with ICU and hospital protocols to uphold patient safety and care quality.
- Participate in rounds and communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care continuity.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families throughout the critical care journey.
- Mentor and supervise junior nursing staff and nursing students.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of advancements in critical care nursing practices.
- Implement infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the ICU.
- Ensure proper management and disposal of medical waste and sharps to maintain a safe environment.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wyoming.
- BSN or MSN degree from an accredited nursing institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification may be necessary for specific roles.
- Critical care certification (CCRN) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong clinical abilities with a focus on patient safety and care quality.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical stamina to perform job duties, including lifting patients and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional growth.
