Job Description

Role Title: Technical Writer - Model Development Specialist

Duration: 3-6 month contract, potentially longer

Location: Remote with occasional travel required


Job Summary:


Bayforce is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to join our team as a Model Development Specialist. In this role, you will work closely with our model developers to create and maintain high-quality technical documentation and user manuals for various financial models. Your expertise in translating complex statistical and quantitative information into standardized formats will be invaluable in ensuring accuracy and clarity in our documentation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with model developers to produce and maintain technical documentation and user manuals for financial models
  • Interpret data analysis, technical specifications, statistical methods, business use cases, regulatory guidelines, and internal controls to ensure top-quality documentation
  • Lead training sessions for employees on standard documentation practices
  • Develop and maintain documentation tools and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation meets business needs and regulatory requirements


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience, or Associate's degree and at least 9 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of finance and accounting theories and practices within the commercial banking industry
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts/theory and their relation to profitability reporting


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 4-6 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer or in a similar role, preferably in a quantitative discipline within the banking industry
  • Experience with LaTeX/Sphinx or other documentation tools
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards
  • Working knowledge of the model development process and statistics/quantitative disciplines
  • Experience with Python/SAS and other modeling software
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with tools such as GitHub, Dash, Shiny, and Flask is a plus
  • Understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and version control systems
