The Automotive Parts Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting the Metal Technicians and Estimators by managing the procurement of components necessary for vehicle repairs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ordering and receiving parts, ensuring accurate documentation and tracking within the management system.
  • Delivering and retrieving parts from suppliers, while maintaining an organized inventory.
  • Returning incorrect or defective parts and ensuring proper credit documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of parts purchasing and handling, including sublet services and materials management.
  • Inspect incoming parts for accuracy, pricing, and condition, ensuring they match the specifications of the previous components.
  • Maintain proper storage of all received parts, linking them to the correct repair orders.
  • Assist estimators in sourcing the necessary parts for ongoing repairs.
  • Manage parts returns to maintain efficiency, aiming for a return rate of less than 20%.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization within the facility.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings to discuss workflow and priorities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in parts management within an automotive repair environment.
  • High School diploma is required; vocational training in collision repair is preferred.
  • Preferred certifications include I-CAR training and/or ASE certification.
  • Proficient in using computer systems for parts entry and management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Capable of standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive motions as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to various elements including paint, fumes, dust, and chemicals.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels.
