Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Manufacturing Operations will lead a dedicated team of around 30 professionals across multiple locations, focusing on demand forecasting, procurement, inventory management, production processes, manufacturing engineering, assembly and repair operations, logistics, and quality assurance within a leading organization in vehicle emissions testing. This role involves supervising a diverse group of professionals, including managers and engineers, and contributing to strategic business development and governance as part of the senior management team.

  • Direct and manage the Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams, ensuring alignment of business strategies with customer expectations.
  • Evaluate costs, forecasts, and operational workflows to formulate effective business strategies and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Field Programs to establish precise production forecasts and execution plans.
  • Identify potential risks in program initiatives and work with the team to devise mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee planning, procurement, materials management, and inventory control to ensure streamlined operations.
  • Drive production objectives for new units and component repairs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop, track, and report on essential productivity and performance indicators.
  • Implement and uphold standard work and quality processes to cultivate a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure the seamless flow of materials to meet production goals and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance production and repair methodologies.
  • Manage both internal and external repair operations, including contract development and work statement creation.
  • Oversee inventory management for both components and finished products.
  • Encourage continuous operational improvement while ensuring adherence to cost control, inventory management, and quality standards.
  • Foster a positive workplace environment, lead by example, and promote a culture of high performance.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in directing production, repair operations, inventory management, planning, quality assurance, and supply chain management in a complex environment.
  • Proven expertise in utilizing production and quality metrics to achieve results.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with ISO systems or similar quality management frameworks is advantageous.
  • APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification is a plus.
  • Experience in promoting a Lean manufacturing culture and a systems-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing planning and procurement.
  • Ability to establish goals and manage projects in alignment with business strategies.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with a strategic, analytical mindset and appreciation for diverse perspectives.

Requirements:

  • Proven capability to establish and monitor metrics for reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills for documenting and refining processes to boost productivity.
  • Negotiation skills to secure optimal value from suppliers and enhance margins.
  • Extensive experience with Electronic Assembly Contract Manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
  • Solid understanding of SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning) tools and their application in operational settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching experience in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with process development, validation, documentation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical equipment production, testing, and repair processes.
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate production and repair activities across teams.
  • Proficiency in office productivity software (e.g., MS Office) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) for reporting and management.
  • Experience in employee management and development.

Compensation:

$120-165k based on experience.
