Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Manufacturing Operations will lead a dedicated team of approximately 30 professionals across multiple locations. This role encompasses overseeing demand forecasting, procurement strategies, inventory management, production processes, manufacturing engineering, assembly and repair operations, warehouse logistics, distribution, and quality assurance for a leader in vehicle emissions testing. The position involves supervising managerial staff, engineers, and other specialists. As part of the senior management team, this role plays a crucial part in business development, governance, and strategic planning.

  • Direct and manage the Manufacturing and Supply Chain divisions, ensuring alignment with business strategies and customer requirements.
  • Evaluate costs, forecasts, and operational workflows to formulate effective business strategies and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales and Field Programs to establish precise production forecasts and execution plans.
  • Recognize potential risks within program initiatives and coordinate with the team to address and mitigate these challenges.
  • Oversee planning, procurement, materials management, and inventory control to guarantee operational efficiency.
  • Drive production objectives for new units and component repairs, ensuring alignment with overarching strategic goals.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on critical productivity and performance indicators.
  • Implement and uphold standard operating procedures and quality protocols to cultivate a high-performance organization.
  • Ensure a seamless flow of materials to meet production goals and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize production and repair methodologies.
  • Manage both internal and external repair operations, including the development of contracts and work statements.
  • Supervise inventory management for both components and finished products.
  • Encourage continuous operational improvement while ensuring adherence to cost control, inventory management, and quality standards.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture, lead by example, and promote a high-performance environment.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in overseeing production, repair operations, inventory management, planning, quality assurance, and supply chain management in a complex environment.
  • Proven expertise in utilizing production and quality metrics to drive performance outcomes.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with ISO systems or comparable quality management frameworks is advantageous.
  • APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification is a plus.
  • Experience in promoting a Lean manufacturing culture and a systems-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing planning and procurement.
  • Ability to establish goals and manage projects in alignment with business strategies.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting methodologies.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with a strategic, analytical mindset and an appreciation for diverse perspectives.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with Electronic Assembly Contract Manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
  • Solid understanding of SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning) tools and their application in an operational context.
  • Proven leadership and coaching experience in a complex manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with process development, validation, documentation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with the production, testing, and repair of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate production and repair activities across teams.
  • Proficiency in office productivity software (e.g., MS Office) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) for reporting and management.
  • Experience in employee management and development.

Compensation:

$120-165k based on experience.
