Position Overview:

The role of a Crossing Guard involves ensuring the safe passage of students across busy intersections during school hours. This position may also include providing essential administrative support to facilitate the efficient operation of the educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and take down crossing signage to protect pedestrian traffic.
  • Observe student conduct to uphold a safe atmosphere.
  • Manage vehicular flow and assist children and guardians in crossing streets in accordance with law enforcement protocols.
  • Utilize a two-way communication device to alert authorities about any unusual occurrences.
  • Support supervision in playgrounds, classrooms, and dining areas.
  • Execute various clerical tasks as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Awareness of police procedures related to crossing guard duties.
  • Ability to interpret and implement rules and procedures effectively.
  • Competence in supervising and aiding students in diverse activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using office machinery.
Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized Safety Training Course for Crossing Guards or equivalent qualifications and experience.

Additional Requirements:
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation.
  • Capacity to lift and transport items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods in varying weather conditions.
