Senior Phlebotomy Supervisor

Position Overview:
Compensation for this role begins at $18.07/hour
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Senior Phlebotomy Supervisor oversees departmental efficiency and provides insights to management regarding necessary adjustments and staffing workflow.
Coordinates the assignments of team members.May engage directly with patient care departments and/or medical offices to clarify laboratory requests or to communicate the necessity of obtaining accurately collected specimens.
Executes advanced phlebotomy tasks including but not limited to:recollection of samples due to challenging draws, assisting with difficult draws in critical care settings and other areas as required, conducting blood alcohol specimen collections, providing education and demonstrations for challenging draws, supporting the department educator in showcasing techniques for advanced blood specimen collection, and may necessitate travel to assist with phlebotomy tasks in various locations.
Additionally, may support standard phlebotomy responsibilities as required.In performing these duties, ensures the acquisition of necessary supplies, confirms patient identification, prepares skin sites, and carries out venipuncture and skin punctures adhering to established aseptic protocols.
Labels specimens and ensures their transport to the laboratory for analysis. Engages in clerical and/or computer-related tasks associated with laboratory operations.Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or large clinic setting.
Skills and Knowledge:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen attention to detail.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Licenses/Certifications:
Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT)
Experience:
Associate or bachelor's degree in a science-related field.
