Job Summary:

The Kane County Regional Office of Education is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to lead our financial operations team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing our financial systems, processes, and policies to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate and manage financial software and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  2. Create and monitor internal financial control policies and processes to maintain compliance and efficiency.
  3. Initiate and direct the annual budget process, including Skyward input and approval, and work with grant managers to provide financial data for grant budgeting.
  4. Oversee all deposits and investments, maintain bank accounts, and supervise accounts receivable and payable processes.
  5. Manage accounts payable processes, including check and ACH creation, vendor creation, and annual 1099/1096 process.
  6. Maintain employment files and new employee on-boarding process.
  7. Work with the county as payroll coordinator and execute bi-weekly payroll processes.
  8. Remit TRS/THIS payments and reconcile TRS reporting annually.
  9. Submit grant expenditure reports in IWAS for regional superintendent approval.
  10. Review general ledger on an ongoing basis and prepare adjustments for regional superintendent approval.
  11. Manage preparation of year-end financial statements, including all supporting schedules and documentation.
  12. Prepare annual county ROE budget documents.
  13. Receive and review district AFRs annually and submit approved AFRs to ISBE Business Office as required.
  14. Prepare treasurer's bond affidavit with district information as required by statute.
  15. Act as KEEP treasurer and prepare all financial documents and information returns for KEEP.
  16. Report monthly financials to ROE cabinet.
  17. Facilitate meetings with district CSBO network.
  18. Supervise finance department staff.
  19. Prepare bank reconciliations monthly.

Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or management.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, with at least 2 years in a management position.
  3. Preferred experience as an auditor.
  4. Fund accounting experience required.
  5. Knowledge of fund accounting software, such as Skyward, preferred.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, required.
  7. Experience preparing month and year-end financial statements.
  8. Experience with AR, AP, PR, and budgeting.
  9. Experience and knowledge with audit processes.
  10. Organizational skills, flexibility, and ability to quickly learn new technologies and services.
  11. Capable of handling matters of confidential nature.
  12. Strong communication skills and supervisory experience.
