- Ensuring the safety and efficacy of all human pharmaceuticals produced for interstate commerce, along with accurate and informative product labeling.
- Overseeing the safety, potency, purity, and effectiveness of vaccines, blood products, and various biological and biotechnology-derived human products.
- Monitoring the safety and effectiveness of medical devices, while minimizing unnecessary human exposure to artificial radiation from medical, occupational, and consumer products.
- Conducting inspections and investigations of food and drug manufacturing facilities, performing analytical evaluations, and recommending enforcement actions as necessary.
