Mammography Technologist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Saint Joseph Health System. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing patients for mammograms, ensuring proper identification, and explaining the procedure to patients. You will also be responsible for positioning patients to obtain quality studies, while being aware of patient anxiety levels and discomfort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for mammograms by transporting them between waiting and exam rooms
  • Ensure proper identification of patients and introduce yourself to patients
  • Assist patients with gowning and dressing, and explain the procedure to patients
  • Position patients to obtain quality studies, while being aware of patient anxiety levels and discomfort
  • Obtain necessary clinical information from patients and/or patient charts and records
  • Set priorities and demonstrate ability to facilitate patient care
  • Perform various quality control duties, including obtaining sensitometer strips and checking with densitometers
  • Participate in unit activities, including division and staff meetings
  • Maintain professional and technological competencies, as well as requirements such as CPR and TB tests
  • Assist in training and proctoring mammography technologists

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and a licensed Radiographer in the state of Indiana
  • Earned the advanced certificate in mammography from the ARRT, or completed a training course in mammography and will be taking the ARRT advanced certificate in mammography within 60 days
  • Minimum of one year as a Radiologic Technologist, with one year of experience in mammography preferred
