Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Compliance: Ensure departmental operations align with regulatory standards set by relevant health and safety agencies.
- Instrument Management: Oversee the decontamination, preparation, and sterilization processes for surgical instruments.
- Team Leadership: Provide direct supervision and support to Sterile Processing Department personnel, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Staff Development: Conduct hiring, performance evaluations, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Establish clear expectations and goals for staff performance.
- Communication: Maintain consistent and timely communication with team members and other departments.
- Workload Management: Assign and prioritize tasks, standardize operating procedures, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Attendance Oversight: Review and approve time-off requests, monitor attendance, and ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Career Advancement: Mentor and support the professional growth of department employees through training and educational opportunities.
- Performance Improvement: Develop and implement initiatives to enhance departmental performance and encourage staff participation.
- Feedback Analysis: Gather and analyze customer feedback to identify opportunities for procedural enhancements.
- System Administration: Champion the Instrument Tracking System, performing administrative duties and utilizing reporting capabilities for departmental improvements.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to fire and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
- Professional Development: Pursue opportunities for self-improvement and maintain professional competency through ongoing education.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Compensation: Competitive salary range based on experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in sterile processing, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Licensure: Certification as CRCST or CSPDT is required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, engage in frequent bending and reaching, and lift/push/pull weights as necessary. Exposure to various workplace conditions is expected.
