Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sterile Processing Supervisor to lead our team at the University of Virginia Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for directing daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the processing and sterilization of medical instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to Sterile Processing personnel, including staffing, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure the timely availability of instrumentation, supplies, and other resources to support surgical services and other dependent areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and optimize departmental efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of departmental activities, including inventory management, quality control, and customer feedback.
  • Develop and implement departmental performance improvement activities and ensure ongoing staff participation.
  • Act as a champion of the SPM Instrument Tracking System and perform system administrator duties.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree Preferred.
  • 3 years progressive leadership experience within sterile processing preferred, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Certification as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) through IAHCSMM OR certification as CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through CBSPD required.
Working Conditions

The job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
