We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Educator to join our team at the University of Miami. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs for nursing and clinical staff in the Cardiology/Neurology Intensive Care unit.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Nurse Educators and Managers to design and implement unit-based educational programs that address practice gaps, regulatory requirements, and specialty standards.
- Develop and deliver educational activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skills, or practice.
- Create a learning environment that fosters collaboration and continuing education among practitioners, leaders, nurses, educators, and patient care staff.
- Coordinate education and training for patient care staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Document and support competency development and address competency deficits in staff members and teams.
- Support the onboarding and integration of new employees into the organization, focusing on retention and growth.
- Facilitate unit orientation for licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel during onboarding and when changes in roles, responsibilities, or practice settings occur.
- Work with the Professional Development Department to develop, coordinate, manage, facilitate, conduct, and evaluate onboarding and orientation programs for unit-based licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel.
- Maintain professional knowledge by partnering with individuals, groups, and/or organizations to share expertise in planning and decision-making to achieve common goals.
- Participate in applicable continuing education programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops to stay current in the field.
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures, and safeguard University assets.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Valid Florida RN license.
- Basic EKG interpretation skills.
- Current AHA ACLS provider certificate.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Specialty competence and ability to teach content.
- Specialty certification or certification within 1 year in position.
- Minimum two years of Educator or Preceptor experience preferred.
- Seven and a half years of recent experience in the specialty preferred.
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
