Overview of Duties

Engage with patrons to provide outstanding service in a prompt manner while enjoying their dining experience at Another Broken Egg Cafe. Take customer orders, serve meals and beverages, respond to inquiries regarding the menu, and accommodate guest preferences, while also promoting food and drink options. Collaborate closely with Bussers and Hostesses to ensure guests receive top-notch service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional service to guests and foster a welcoming and enjoyable environment for both customers and team members.
  • Execute all tasks and responsibilities efficiently and effectively in line with established company protocols to fulfill the overall goals of the role, maintaining a strong sense of urgency.
  • Arrive at the workplace fully prepared for service as per company guidelines.
  • Address any inquiries regarding menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and side dishes.
  • Warmly greet newly seated guests within one minute of their arrival.
  • Take drink orders promptly upon greeting guests, serve beverages, and encourage additional sales. Accurately capture the entire order and confirm details with guests.
  • Proactively recommend menu items, including appetizers, main courses, drinks, and desserts.
  • Input orders into the POS system swiftly and accurately, ensuring clarity for the kitchen staff.
  • Attend to guests' needs during food delivery and follow up to confirm their satisfaction.
  • Monitor guests to anticipate any further requirements.
  • Ensure that guests' expectations are not only met but exceeded. Develop problem-solving skills to address any food or service concerns.
  • Maintain the appearance of tables by pre-bussing, checking drink levels, removing clutter, and providing additional napkins as needed.
  • Take on cashier responsibilities as part of the role.
  • Process payments and provide change or credit card slips within 1-3 minutes of guest payment, adhering to proper accounting practices for closing checks, promotional items, employee discounts, and gift certificates.
  • Consistently uphold high standards of customer service and hospitality.
  • Keep the wait station organized and clean. Set up and dismantle the station according to opening and closing procedures.
  • Follow company sanitation policies and procedures diligently.
  • Keep the immediate supervisor informed of any issues or significant matters and take prompt corrective action.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Foster positive working relationships with all other employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious work environment, conducive to high employee morale, productivity, and effectiveness.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of restrooms and the exterior of the building.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and stocked work area, notifying management of any shortages. Prepare the stocking area for the next day at closing.
  • Clear trash, sweep, mop, and/or vacuum the restaurant floor when support staff is unavailable.
Job Requirements:
  • Must be neatly dressed and well-groomed in the company-approved uniform at all times.
  • Ability to operate the P.O.S. system, handle cash accurately, and process credit card transactions correctly.
  • Capable of delivering plates, food, and clearing tables, which may involve lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to walk or stand for most of a 6-8 hour shift.
  • Must be able to read menu items and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, and perform cleaning tasks.
  • Professional phone etiquette is required. Must be able to hear well in a noisy environment to respond to guest requests.
  • Must be able to calmly address dissatisfied guests and notify a manager if issues cannot be resolved promptly.
  • Able to lift and carry supplies and bus tubs weighing up to 50 lbs, up to 20 times per shift.
  • Required to carry trays and supplies, assist in restocking, and detail cleaning throughout the restaurant.
  • Must effectively communicate guests' needs to other staff members, including bussers, hostesses, and management.

  • Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude, even during busy periods.
  • Prioritize guest satisfaction and exceptional service.

  • Review proper table settings regularly.
