Role Responsibilities:

This role is pivotal in managing and coordinating the financial accounting and reporting functions for the Conference and its affiliated entities. The position is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the organization's internal policies.

Key Financial Management Duties:

  • Oversee the monthly financial closing processes for all organizations, ensuring accurate cut-off of revenues and expenses, account reconciliations, and the preparation of timely financial statements.
  • Design and produce comprehensive financial reporting packages for the Controller's review, including variance analysis and cash flow assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to monitor departmental budgets and program activities on a monthly basis.
  • Compile necessary financial data for quarterly combined financial statement reporting for affiliated organizations.
  • Assist the Controller in budget preparation and forecasting as required.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the implementation or upgrades of accounting systems.
  • Manage relationships and reporting for Fiscal Sponsorships.
  • Compile information for annual audits, working in conjunction with external auditors, and assist in preparing required disclosures and reports.
  • Prepare all necessary Form 990s and BCO-10s, collaborating with external tax preparers during the review process.
  • Track restricted funds from grants and assist in grant close-outs and funding requests.
  • Manage multi-year pledges and sponsorships within the CRM system.

  • Ensure confidentiality of financial information.
  • Contribute to organizational efficiency by participating in special projects as assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not mandatory.

Knowledge: Proficient in managing daily accounting operations, including general ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Experience with external audits and financial statement analysis is essential. Familiarity with non-profit accounting, Form 990 preparation, and grant reporting is advantageous.

Experience: Minimum of 4+ years in public accounting or 5-10 years of overall financial experience. Supervisory experience is required.

Skills: Attention to detail is critical. Proficient in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills. Experience with Salesforce (CRM) and MIP (accounting software) is preferred. Strong analytical and organizational skills, along with the ability to drive continuous improvements and effectively communicate financial concepts across departments.
