Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Education Assistant to join our team at Main Street High School in Kissimmee, FL. As an Education Assistant, you will work under the supervision of the highly qualified classroom teacher and the School Principal to assist in implementing instruction and related services.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree in a relevant field or completed two (2) years of college (60 credit hours), Para Professional certification, or be willing to obtain a Para Professional certification. Additionally, they should be bilingual in English and Spanish, proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with at-risk student populations.

About the Role:

As an Education Assistant, you will be responsible for providing instructional assistance, guiding additional practice opportunities, re-teaching, and monitoring behavior. You will also assist the instructional team in meeting the needs of all students by building relationships and identifying barriers to success. Teachers will collaborate with you to analyze different means of meeting student needs and communicate with students, parents, and other team members about student progress and plans for next steps.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. They will also be flexible, creative, and able to demonstrate perseverance in dealing with challenging learning, behavioral, family, and classroom situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement school and district policies and procedures;
  • Establish and maintain working relations with colleagues;
  • Assist teachers in their teaching duties and other general responsibilities;
  • Reinforce lessons by reviewing material one-on-one and in small groups with students;
  • Prepare the class before commencement of session, preparing presentations and projects;
  • Document and review system data;
  • Examine and score test papers or class assignments;
  • Provide support to students by uplifting their academic and emotional needs;
  • Maintain records, attendance, and progress of students and provide feedback to parents;
  • Assist students who need additional help learning a specific concept;
  • Perform clerical tasks as needed, such as maintaining students' attendance records, filing student information, and creating newsletters and articles;
  • Recognize students with learning disabilities and inform in-class teachers;
  • Assist teachers in providing additional attention to special needs students;
  • Evaluate educational materials, equipment, and supplies; and
  • Participate in planning sessions with the classroom teacher.
