Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment
  • Perform medium to high-level machine systems troubleshooting and repair
  • Provide technical support for all phases of the operation
  • Work from verbal and written instructions, blueprints, and sketches to complete work orders and PM's
  • Utilize hand tools and common powered hand and shop tools
Requirements
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2+ years related experience and/or training
  • Must be able to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/training manuals written in English
  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors
  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift preferred
  • Displays sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision

  • Must be able to perform studies on the production floor, work in temperatures ranging from -10 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and in constant noise, exposure to fumes, dust, mechanical, electrical and safety hazards
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud if in the plant areas
  • Must be willing to work 8-10 hours daily up to 6 days per week with some flexibility
