Transportation Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
- Personally operates a school bus on a full-time basis, transporting students to and from school with the utmost care and attention.
- Performs daily pre-trip inspections, completes the inspector checklist, and turns it in to the transportation department and the principal of the school.
- Keeps the bus in good, safe operating condition, ensuring the students' safety at all times.
- Provides for the needs of individual students, observing and abiding by the laws of the State, the rules and regulations of the State Department of Education, the School Board, the Superintendent of Schools, the Transportation Coordinator, and the principal of the school.
- Reports disciplinary problems to the Principal or his designee.
- Be in position behind the wheel before the first student boards the bus, remains on the bus until the last student is discharged.
- Participates in in-service training, staying up-to-date with the latest safety procedures and protocols.
- Arranges for students to be transported to and from school when the bus is broken down or the driver is unable to drive.
- Notifies the principal of each school and the transportation department when the bus is broken down or the driver is unable to drive.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the proper authority.
- Maintains good attendance, reporting to work on time and displaying a positive attitude at all times.
- Adheres to all Iberville Parish School Board's policies, demonstrating a strong commitment to the school district's values and mission.
- Reports job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor.
- Assumes responsibility for implementation of emergency procedures, ensuring the students' safety in case of an emergency.
- Seeks and maintains a positive attitude, promoting a positive school and community relations at all times.
- Participates in and promotes harmonious working relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and community members.
- Attends meetings as directed, staying informed and engaged with the school district's initiatives and goals.
- Serves on task force and decision-making committees, when appropriate, contributing to the school district's growth and development.
