Job Overview

Position Summary

The Racine County Opportunity Center (RCOC) is dedicated to enhancing employment and training outcomes for individuals with disabilities in the Racine and Kenosha regions. Our Community Guidance Program serves as the initial phase in connecting participants to educational, training, and employment opportunities. This role is designed to assist participants, including adults and youth with disabilities, in realizing their full vocational potential within a competitive and integrated work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with staff to foster and enhance vocational skills of participants.

  • Evaluate participant performance across various job sites in accordance with program standards (e.g., conducting site visits, gathering employer feedback, acting as a liaison between the participant and employer, etc.) to pinpoint areas needing further training on effective work habits.
  • Guide participants in establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries related to job readiness.
  • Provide training in soft skills, social skills, coping strategies, employability, and access to community resources.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and workflow management utilizing basic computer skills.
  • Prepare necessary written documentation, including reports and other relevant paperwork to justify services provided.
  • Maintain a dependable attendance record and demonstrate flexibility in providing support.
  • Represent RCOC and its funding partners in a professional manner, embodying the mission of RCOC.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

Candidates must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions and engage with the community throughout the year, utilizing various transportation methods. Experience working with individuals with diverse disabilities, including physical challenges, is essential.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: Two years of experience in working with developmentally disabled adults or relevant educational background.
  • Ability to travel independently to multiple locations.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Capability to operate agency vehicles as necessary.
  • Successful completion of a Caregiver Background Check.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
