Job Summary

The Localization Quality Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the quality of all localized content across various platforms, including live broadcasts, corporate events, and pre-recorded media. This role will involve overseeing quality control processes, managing project timelines, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams to streamline workflows and leverage the latest technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform meticulous quality control on subtitles, captions, dubbing scripts, and other localized content, ensuring accuracy, cultural relevance, and compliance with client/inhouse requirements.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators to communicate project specifications, timelines, and expectations to vendors, ensuring productive partnerships and timely content delivery.
  • Act as a liaison between the localization team and internal departments, ensuring smooth communication and resolving project-related queries or feedback.
  • Provide detailed feedback to both internal teams and vendors, maintaining high-quality localization standards.
  • Assist in developing training materials and delivering sessions on industry best practices, new tools, and internal style guidelines to ensure consistent performance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on subtitling, captioning, and localization technologies, staying updated with industry trends and innovations.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to optimize workflows, enhancing the efficiency of language operations.
  • Conduct vendor and system evaluations, reporting on performance metrics to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
  • Maintain and update department glossaries and tools, including AI-supported localization systems.
  • Support management in tracking and reporting on vendor performance and in-house staff output quality and productivity metrics.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in localization, subtitling, or related fields OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written & verbal).
  • Proven experience in quality control and vendor management.
  • Proven ability to perform tasks such as timestamp subtitling, writing captions, and creating scripts from video for localization.
  • Exhibits strong knowledge and understanding of localization tools and software used in the industry.
  • Exhibits strong knowledge and understanding of closed captioning quality standards and practices.
  • Skilled in use of computers and Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in localization, subtitling, and captioning within the media or entertainment sector, specifically for both live and offline productions strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Translation, Linguistics, Media) preferred.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Able to pivot between tasks and work calmly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Efficient and flexible approach to meeting deadlines.
  • Solid verbal communicator with strong writing skills in English and Spanish.
  • Able to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Able to read, understand, follow, and enforce business procedures.
  • Organized complex problem-solver and able to balance priorities, with great attention to detail.
  • Process-oriented, good at identifying and implementing best practices.
  • Change agent; creative and adaptable when facing challenges.

  • Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • As this is a critical operations position, candidate must be willing to work flexible hours, including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.
  • Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
  • This position is required to be performed on a Hybrid basis from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
