Key Responsibilities:
The Cyber Threat Security Specialist will gather, evaluate, and prioritize both open and closed-source threat intelligence to identify pertinent threats and search for Indicators Of Compromise (IOCs) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) within the DISH ecosystem.
Primary Duties:
- Contribute to the creation of tools, frameworks, services, and guidelines for threat analysis and response, supporting operational functions on Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) matters as necessary (including DFIR, Security Operations, Malware Analysis, etc.).
- Regularly assess and review emerging CTI-related products and platforms, becoming a subject matter expert on their quality and applicability.
- Conduct thorough threat research utilizing both open and closed sources, maintaining Intelligence Knowledge Bases (KBs) to effectively monitor known TTPs, detection coverage, and response/mitigation strategies associated with specific threats and adversary tactics.
- Provide curated intelligence to assist operational functions, such as Threat Hunting for executing missions and Detection Engineering for developing use cases for new adversary behaviors.
- Analyze technical-oriented Threat Intelligence from diverse sources (e.g., social media, blogs, intelligence reports, sandbox outputs, partner sharing, internal detections) to track and report on the evolving threat landscape, including TTPs.
- Research and analyze malware, attack campaigns, threat groups, and their tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) as observed in the threat landscape.
- Engage in processes for collecting, enriching, assessing, and distributing Threat Intelligence data and reporting, including the evaluation of supporting technologies such as Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIP).
- Assist incident responders, threat hunters, and intrusion analysts in navigating network, log, and endpoint data during investigations of targeted attacks and significant profit-driven campaigns against DISH's clientele.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Skills and Competencies:
- Profound understanding of cybersecurity principles, concepts, and technologies.
- Familiarity with CTI frameworks.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for critical thinking and informed decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Self-driven and enthusiastic about learning, with a robust passion for cybersecurity.
- Prior experience in a related role or internship is advantageous but not mandatory.
