Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services seeks a highly skilled Senior Legal Secretary to provide complex legal secretarial support to the Regional Legal Services Department. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex administrative and legal issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist attorneys with case management, tracking assignments and cases using databases or automated systems.
Maintain files, calendars, and case logs, redacting confidential information as needed.
Coordinate and docket cases for hearings, filing and e-filing pleadings and documents.
Prepare and coordinate travel requests, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate complex administrative and legal issues both verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external contacts.
Knowledge of legal practices and terminology.
Ability to interpret policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multi-task and develop systems to track multiple assignments and deadlines.

Working Conditions:

The Senior Legal Secretary will work under general supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The position requires daily contact with internal and external contacts and the ability to understand and explain policies and procedures of the agency.
