Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at LabCorp in Portland, OR.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Send daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management, providing valuable insights into laboratory performance.
  • Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees, promoting a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance, and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities.
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs, maintaining the highest standards of laboratory practice.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality, minimizing downtime and optimizing laboratory performance.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, ensuring their accuracy and reliability.
  • Report accurate and timely test results, delivering high-quality patient care and meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, ensuring the laboratory's equipment and processes are in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary, maintaining a well-stocked and organized laboratory environment.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed, ensuring timely and accurate testing.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to all relevant safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • ASCP and/or AMT Certification/Generalist required.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of laboratory operations, as well as policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment.
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
