Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team at TriCities Hospital. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document patient admission and shift behavioral and physical clinical data and observations.
  • Perform vital signs, BPs, and accuchecks, and provide or assist patients with Activities of Daily Living.
  • Provide behavioral health care interventions utilizing the least restrictive interventions, and consistent with a culture of recovery and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff, and complete routine and special safety checks.
  • Assume responsibility for completing all mandatory educational, PPD, CPR, and CPI requirements within designated time frames.
  • Actively participate in quality management activities by timely reporting of staff, family, visitor, or quality concerns.
  • Assume responsibility for reviewing all work-related communications and taking the initiative to seek clarification when needed.
  • Facilitate and/or assist with patient community, education, or activity groups, and document patients' participation.
  • Assist with clerical duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and follow policy/procedure, for all hospital patient safety initiatives.
  • Provide safe transport for patients to and from Behavioral Health Services for any necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Report to work as pre-scheduled and on time.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or college course in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth & development is preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support is required.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is required and must be obtained within 60 days of hire or start in position.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.
