Location Description: Hotel Theodore opened as the Roosevelt Hotel in 1930, named after the 26th U.S. president, who visited Seattle in 1903. From its very beginnings, the building encapsulated Seattle's pioneering spirit. Its architect, John Graham Sr., was one of the city's most prominent, and his designs account for the hotel's distinctive, modernist Art Deco style. The 18-story building remained Seattle's tallest hotel for decades, with 234 rooms and an ornately furnished lobby detailed in the French modern style. In contrast to the hotels that catered to residents, the Roosevelt Hotel positioned itself as a traveler-oriented hotel.

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Runner/Busser to join our team. As a Food Runner/Busser, you will be responsible for running food to tables in a timely and efficient manner, setting up and clearing tables, stocking all service stations, and assisting servers with table service to ensure total guest satisfaction. You will also be responsible for maintaining stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods, serving guests with beverages, breads, and butter, and practicing teamwork and cleanliness policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate your ability to be a team player.
  • Run food to table in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Set up and clear tables, stock all service stations, and assist servers with table service to ensure total guest satisfaction.
  • Quickly clear dirty table settings and prepare table for resetting.
  • Promptly and consistently reset all service-ware as prescribed.
  • Maintain stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods with necessary equipment including silverware, linen, and condiments.
  • Serve guests with beverages, breads, and butter to begin their dining experience and replenish as necessary.
  • Practice 'Teamwork' and 'Clean as you go' policies.
  • Transport all dirty tableware from dining room to dishwashing area for proper cleaning.
  • Attend monthly departmental meetings.
  • Follow proper standards and etiquette for room service deliveries.
  • Memorize table numbers and seat numbers of the dining room and bar.
  • Follow opening & closing side work sheet for food runner position.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of restaurant experience is recommended but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisor, and fellow employees.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift schedule to include weekdays, weekends, AM, PM, split shifts, and holidays. This is a night-time intensive position working primarily dinner shift hours.
  • Must be able to handle guest requests and/or complaints.

  • Color Perception: Hearing/Listening.
  • Carrying: Up to 50 lbs.
  • Clear Speech: Touching Dexterity.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Up to 50 lbs.
  • Bending/Stretching: Standing for long periods.

Other Safety Requirements: OSHA laws require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety.
