As a Locksmith, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining locks, keys, safes, and other security devices in our hospital premises. Your expertise will ensure the security and safety of our staff, patients, and visitors.

### Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Examine locking mechanisms and install new units or disassemble units and replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts or repair them by filing, drilling, chiseling, and grinding.
* Open door locks by moving lock picks in cylinders or open safe locks by listening to lock sounds or by drilling.
* Change combinations by inserting new or repaired tumblers into locks. Cut new or duplicate keys using impressions or code key machines.
* Disassemble mechanical or electrical locking devices and repair or replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts, using hand tools.
* Keep records of locks and keys. Establish and maintain master key systems for buildings.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

### Skills and Requirements

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Valid locksmith license
* Minimum 3 years of experience as a locksmith in a commercial or institutional setting
* Knowledge of locksmith techniques, tools, materials, and codes
* Ability to read and follow codes, standards, and regulations
* Ability to install, repair, and maintain various types of locks and security devices
* Ability to work with electronic access control systems
* Ability to cut and duplicate keys, program and reprogram electronic locks
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and vendors

### Work Environment

* Occasional and/or light lifting required--limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable.
* May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
