Position Overview

As the Head of Procurement Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and upholding procurement policies and procedures that guarantee cost-effective acquisition of materials and services while maintaining quality control and adherence to the firm's standards. You will oversee daily procurement operations, ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborating closely with senior leadership, you will devise strategic initiatives and implementation plans for significant projects. Additionally, you will assist senior managers in developing business cases for proposed solutions and manage related functions such as travel and real estate.

Work Arrangement

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals, focusing on coaching, mentoring, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with outsourced leadership to define and execute vendor management strategies that align with firm objectives.
  • Advocate for vendor management initiatives to firm leadership and end users.
  • Oversee the outsourced vendor management team in their operational activities.
  • Foster productive relationships and navigate cultural dynamics among firm leaders and business services stakeholders.
  • Assess purchasing needs of business units to enhance stakeholder engagement with procurement processes.
  • Identify and address potential conflicts or obstacles, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure vendor management services meet leadership expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand vendor management scope or initiate special projects.
  • Develop and implement performance measurement tools to monitor outcomes and report findings to leadership.
  • Advance procurement programs such as supplier diversity and sustainability to support the firm's business objectives.
  • Facilitate communication and implementation of policies developed by the outsourced vendor management team.
  • Manage additional firm projects and other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a minimum of five years of experience in procurement or vendor management, preferably within a professional services environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with demonstrated analytical and critical thinking abilities. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter, adept at prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment, and committed to high-quality standards.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field.
  • Formal training in procurement as part of a degree or certification program is highly desirable; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of management experience is required.
