Job Description

Job Summary:

Mercer Transportation Co., Inc. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Permit Clerk to join our team. As a Permit Clerk, you will be responsible for facilitating the leasing, orientation, and termination of contractors, as well as preparing files and permit books.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leasing and Orientation: Perform assigned tasks to facilitate the leasing and orientation of contractors, including preparing necessary paperwork and conducting post-orientation meetings.
  • File Management: Prepare files and permit books, and maintain accurate records.
  • Permit Management: Order temporary registrations for new contractors, order supplies, and sign on new contractors.
  • Termination: Complete termination paperwork and ensure a smooth transition for departing contractors.
  • Equipment Management: Update the computer system with changes to equipment and assist with the annual review of tractor registrations.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with permit mail outs, weekly order and cancellation of various permits, and provide administrative support to truck recruiters.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of clerical experience, one (1) of which must have included multi-phone system, customer service, and/or similar business acumen.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to answer phones, maintain accurate correspondence, and provide full attention to what others are saying.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to develop systems and processes, work independently, and accept direction on given assignments.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using phone, keyboard, mouse, 10-key calculator, printer, scanner, fax, and other office equipment.
