Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Patient Access Specialist to join our Emergency Department team. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating assigned employee duties and managing the allocation of personnel resources to ensure efficient patient flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage the daily operations of the Emergency Department, including patient registration, scheduling, and cash handling.
  • Provide administrative support to the clinical team, including time and attendance, help desk tickets, and other duties as assigned.
  • Monitor and track employee daily assignments, delegate job tasks, and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with other department leads, supervisors, and managers to ensure continuous clinic flow by monitoring daily clinic schedules and registration processes.
  • Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with CHS/Revenue Cycle expectations.
  • Train and assist staff to meet QA goals and requirements.
  • Perform cash handling duties, including preparation of daily cash deposits, facilitating refunds, and addressing overage/shortages as needed.
  • Order and maintain PAR levels for office supplies, encounter forms, and other materials as needed.
  • Perform template maintenance, including new provider template requests, schedule building, and schedule changes.
  • Address customer service issues and uphold a high level of customer service amongst clerical staff at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the clerical supervisor to set clear performance expectations for staff, develop job-specific customer service expectations and behaviors, and establish expectations related to job requirements and performance appraisal components.
  • Identify and escalate system problems, environmental issues, and employee issues as appropriate to the clerical supervisor and clinic leadership team.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of clerical experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and telephone skills required.
  • Skilled analysis of information, critical thinking, and problem-solving with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team and a diverse customer base explaining procedures and organizational policies in a health care setting.
  • Availability to work 40 hours/week with flexibility to accommodate the needs of the clinic.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows XP.
  • Bi-lingual skills preferred.
