This role presents a unique opportunity for a seasoned industry professional to mentor the next generation of technicians. The instructor will collaborate with a Lead Instructor on specific courses while also having the chance to teach independently. Instructors at WyoTech possess the technical knowledge required to deliver their assigned courses and manage all related administrative tasks. They are expected to achieve mastery in all courses assigned, with a minimum of two courses being prioritized. A background check will be conducted upon offer acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with WyoTech policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook; guide students on attendance, academic performance, and personal challenges to support their program completion.
  • Submit grades, assessments, and attendance records; plan class instruction based on the syllabus to meet learning objectives; ensure ethical and legal conduct in all educational activities; utilize the CANVAS LMS system.
  • Support EPA and safety protocols; motivate students to prioritize safety and quality in their work.
  • Maintain and oversee the repair of classroom equipment and tools; ensure the security of the instructional area.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, graduations, and registrations; engage in curriculum development and professional growth; communicate effectively with faculty and staff.

Instructional Duties:

  • Foster enthusiasm and motivation in both classroom and shop settings; build a professional rapport with students.
  • Prepare thoroughly for classes and shop sessions; have all necessary teaching materials ready; provide relevant resources and assignments for lessons.
  • Monitor classroom dynamics; maintain control throughout lessons and shop activities.
  • Adhere to ADA requirements.

General Expectations:

  • Be accessible to students 15 minutes before and after scheduled class times.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all tests and lesson plans.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the department coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet state certification and regulatory agency requirements, including:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the automotive industry as a technician (5 years with an Associate's degree).
  • A positive attitude and a collaborative spirit.
  • Proficiency in computer usage; ability to adapt to educational software.
  • ASM Instructors must hold a bachelor's degree.
