Job Summary

As a Patient Care Technician, you will perform a variety of specialized technical and supportive patient care activities to assist medical professional personnel in diagnostic, therapeutic, and research procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confer with patients to obtain information for chart and laboratory records, explain procedures, and elicit cooperation.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including obtaining specimens, taking vital signs, and positioning patients.
  • Assist physicians and nursing personnel during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, handling instruments, calling out equipment readings, and administering oxygen and opaque dyes.
  • Operate equipment such as polygraphs, magnetic and video tape recorders, and X-ray machines to monitor and obtain recordings of specific body functions.
  • Calculate, compile, and record data obtained from graphs and numerical readings.
Requirements
  • Completion of a related 1-year technical school program.
  • Two years of experience in healthcare, with additional years of experience in related specialties.
