Position: Culinary Specialist - Line Cook

Core Responsibilities

  • Organizes and prepares the cooking station in accordance with restaurant standards.
  • Prepares all food items as instructed, ensuring cleanliness and timeliness.
  • Adheres to recipes, portion control, and presentation standards established by the establishment.
  • Restocks supplies as necessary throughout the shift.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workstation while demonstrating exceptional safety and sanitation practices.
  • Possesses knowledge of proper equipment usage and maintenance within the cooking area.
  • Assists in the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, storage areas, and walk-in coolers.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager.

Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Fundamental understanding of professional cooking techniques and knife skills.
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling protocols.
  • Prior experience in a prep or line cook role.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Food Handler's permit is mandatory.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Must be able to comprehend basic cooking instructions.

As a Culinary Specialist, you will collaborate with fellow Associates to ensure guest satisfaction. You are expected to take initiative and creatively address challenges, involving a Manager only when previous methods have not yielded results.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate verbally and audibly.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent standing with some walking.
  • Capability to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds, with occasional lifting/moving of 50 pounds.
  • Regular use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills, including frequent bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily in an indoor environment.
  • Occasional use of a computer.
  • Variable schedule including evenings, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
  • While performing job duties, employees may be exposed to heat and cold from kitchen equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud.
