Job Summary

The State of Delaware is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Attorney General II to join our Civil Division in the Defensive Litigation Unit. As a key member of our team, you will represent the State, its agencies, officials, and employees in all civil litigation in federal and state court, including civil rights, employment, social services, law enforcement, corrections, and other litigated matters arising out of State operations and legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the State in civil litigation, including depositions, oral argument, and courtroom experience.
  • Provide counsel to State agencies, officials, and employees on civil litigation and settlement of lawsuits.
  • Work closely with paralegals and administrative assistants to manage a large caseload independently.
  • Travel within the State may be necessary to attend court proceedings and meetings.
Requirements
  • Admitted to practice law in the State of Delaware.
  • Admitted to the District Court of Delaware, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, or eligible for admission to those courts.
  • Prior civil litigation experience.
