Job Summary

The Music Department, College of Liberal Arts, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers with positions available as determined by need and funding during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring Quarters for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Teach music courses, including activity classes, private instruction, and lecture classes in music theory, music appreciation, music technology, and music history.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the department's goals and objectives.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Candidates for activity courses and private instruction must have completed a bachelor's degree in music or must have earned a bachelor's degree outside of music and have extensive professional performing experience in music.
  • Candidates for lecture classes must have at least a Master's Degree in Music.
  • Preference will be given to those with relevant work experience, particularly university teaching, and those who bring professional capabilities.
  • Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
