Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor to oversee commercial management, cost control, and estimation services for a significant technology client's large-scale data center construction initiative.

Note: This role offers the flexibility of remote work with necessary on-site visits as required by the client.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Provide comprehensive cost planning, including the development and presentation of the final cost plan.
  • Collaborate with the design services team and general contractor to refine cost estimates.
  • Ensure accuracy in data reconciliation with the general contractor.
  • Engage with the general contractor and owner project manager to gather status updates for cost estimate revisions.
  • Prepare detailed written feedback on the general contractor's submissions, including an executive summary.
  • Coordinate various sources of cost information for discussions with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Drive engineering priorities based on cost implications.
  • Work independently to resolve scheduling challenges.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate processes.
  • Participate in managing post-contract cost variances and change control procedures.
  • Oversee cost impact management and maintain commitment tracking logs.
  • Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
Pre-Contract Duties:
  • Develop cost plans and estimates during the design phase, providing updates at key milestones.
  • Offer commercial insights during design optioneering and value engineering initiatives.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading negotiations to secure fair contract prices on behalf of the client.
Post-Contract Duties:
  • Conduct quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Oversee cost auditing and valuation processes, ensuring robust validation mechanisms are in place.
  • Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Facilitate timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a construction cost management role within the industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost management and/or quantity surveying for complex commercial, data center, high-tech, manufacturing, or mission-critical construction projects.
  • Strong track record of managing large-scale projects at a program level.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
