About the Emergency Department:
Our Emergency Department is equipped with advanced technology and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring efficient and effective patient diagnosis and treatment around the clock.

Your Role:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Emergency Department, you will deliver both direct and indirect patient care as part of the Patient Care Team. You will operate with a degree of independence, caring for patients with varying levels of acuity.

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), your responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering essential information to complete the nursing process.
  • Advocating for patients and maintaining aseptic techniques.
  • Administering medications and documenting treatments.
  • Managing equipment and ensuring patient safety.
  • Monitoring vital signs and coordinating care with other healthcare disciplines.

This position operates on a 3-day, 12-hour schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include:

  • Involving patients and families in care plan development.
  • Updating care plans on a daily basis.
  • Prioritizing and delivering direct patient care in accordance with established policies.
  • Documenting procedures and interventions accurately.
  • Responding appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team on patient care processes.
  • Delegating tasks based on patient needs and staff competencies.
  • Ensuring patient safety through proper restraint use.
  • Administering IV therapy and documenting medication administration.
  • Monitoring patient responses to medications and reporting as necessary.
  • Educating patients and families on care and discharge instructions.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A diploma from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
  • A valid Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • IV Therapy certification within three months of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications as required.

Work Experience:
Preferred candidates will have one year of experience in an acute care setting or three years in long-term care, along with knowledge of infection control and quality improvement practices.

Physical and Mental Demands:
This role requires frequent walking, standing, and the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. You should be able to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain composure under stress.
